PiL and Katy B Among First Confirmations for Summer Sundae Weekender 2012

Public Image Ltd, Katy B, tUnE-yArDs and Reverend and the Makers are among the first acts to be confirmed for this year’s Summer Sundae Weekender festival in Leicester. Joining them on the bill are Asian Dub Foundation, Willy Mason and Cashier No. 9 – see below for the full list of acts confirmed so far.

The 2012 event, which takes places at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall and Gardens, has been moved forward to 17th - 19th August due to this summer’s London Olympic Games. Summer Sundae Weekender has taken place every year since 2001 and has since grown to feature over 100 acts across six stages, attracting more than 6000 people.

Summer Sundae Weekender 2011 saw performances by the likes of Graham Coxon, The Maccabees, McFly, Example, Everything Everything and Toots and the Maytals. For the first time in the festival’s 10-year history, the 2011 event featured a fourth night of music and entertainment at a nearby venue. The Thursday night at Leicester O2 Academy kick-started the Summer Sundae Weekender with an evening of DJ sets and live music from the likes of Fenech-Soler.

Public Image Ltd’s performance at Summer Sundae Weekender will follow the release of the band’s ninth album ‘This is PiL’ on 28th May – their first album in 20 years. More acts for this year’s festival are expected to be announced within the next few weeks.
