Santigold 'Disappointed' With The State Of Modern Music

American singer-songwriter-rapper Santigold has admitted that she’s ‘disappointed with the state of music right now’ – and that party-rock pioneers LMFAO make her cry!

The star, who releases her second studio album later this year, has spoken out about her feelings on the modern pop music industry – and she’s definitely not happy with the way things look in 2012. Claiming that there’s a ‘lack of true art’ in the scene, Santigold thinks that ‘fanfare’ is what’s prized by musicians nowadays – and not making good music.

“I'm disappointed with the state of music right now, but it's not really about anybody specific,” she told Pitchfork. “I think there's a lack of true art, and the fanfare is valued over actual substance. It's like you don't have to make good music to be fucking huge.”

Santigold went on to directly insult LMFAO, before talking about her new album ‘Master of My Make-Believe.

“I'm sorry, but LMFAO performed at the Super Bowl? Aren't they a joke band? That type of shit makes me cry. I'm like, 'Really?'”

“Most of the songs [on the album] are about being in control of your world. That was a really important message for me as an artist in this process, but also in the world right now. We're in a weird place. There are so many riots and rebellions going on. It seems like a truth is coming out.”
