Boards Of Canada To Release Double Album This Year?

Scottish electronic production duo Boards of Canada could be releasing a brand new double album according to BBC6 Music present Peter Serafinowicz – a record that would be their first major release since 2006’s ‘Trans Canada Highway’.

The pair of ambient/IDM producers are some of the most popular figures in their scene, but their fans have been left without any real fresh material for a long time – bar the surfacing of two unreleased tracks and a handful of remixes. So, Boards of Canada lovers could be in for a treat later this year – as Serafinowicz seems to think there could be a new double LP on the way.

“I’m gonna play some Board of Canada now,” the presenter told listeners. “I’m a bit of a Boards of Canada evangelist. They’re my favourite band, I think. Maybe them and The Beatles. But, they are a band, again, a bit like The Fall. It’s like once you get into them, or rather, once something clicks you just wanna hear everything they’ve released…They’ve got a new album coming out soon and I think it’s gonna be a double album and I’m so excited, I really am.”

Nothing official from the duo has been said as of yet – but Stereoboard will be the first to let you know should anything surface.
