Gemma Ray Announces 'Island Fire' Details - Plus Free Track Download

Berlin-based singer Gemma Ray has announced more details of her forthcoming new album 'Island Fire', which is released on April 16th – and will be giving away one of the records stand-out tracks – ‘Runaway’ – as a free download to celebrate.

UK maverick songstress Gemma Ray has gone all out with her latest and most ambitious album 'Island Fire'. True to her previous eclectic form, the album is a trip through Gemma’s ever-growing, over-flowing bag of tricks.

From lavish orchestral alt-pop to intimate stop-you-in-your-tracks tunes, to bitter-sweet girl-group-sounds to brooding psychedelia and even a sci-fi waltz, ‘Island Fire’ is an epic showcase of Ray’s skills as a singer and we’ll be yours to take home on April 16th, when it’s released via Bronze Rat Records.

To top the album off, Gemma instigated an unprecedented collaboration with Ron and Russell Mael, also known as Sparks, in what can only be described as Sparks covering Gemma Ray covering Sparks. The two tracks that are the result of this unlikely meeting of minds appear on the album as bonuses, after already being released as a 7” single complete with artwork by Rick Froberg of Obits/Hot Snakes back in February.

You can check out the free track ‘Runaway’ below.
