Ticket Scammer John Koukoullis Sentenced To Two Years in Prison

A notorious ticket scammer has finally been placed behind bars over two years after he was convicted of 14 counts of fraud and money laundering, which included selling tickets he wasn’t even in possession of.

John Koukoullis is facing two years in prison after he was caught by the authorities illegally selling tickets and laundering money through his companies Hertsboxoffice Ltd and Primetime Events and Hospitality, who used the websites paperticket.co.uk and thefootballticketshop.com. The scam, which Koukoullis started as far back as 2006, earnt the criminal over £2.9million – but now he’s been foiled and will be spending a good portion of the next two years where he belongs.

Judge Martin Griffith described him as ‘dishonest’ and said: “You defrauded people of money. You could have said 'I don't have the tickets but send me £300 and I'll do my best', and we both know what the turnover of your business would have been. Some of them got their money back. Some did not.”

The scam artist has been caught a number of times in the past and even tried to claim he was broke – until he was embarrassingly caught with £45,000 in his car when stopped by police last year. The proceeds from his crimes were spent fuelling his luxury lifestyle – which he’ll now be swapping for an uncomfortable bed in a small room.

In February 2011, Stereoboard produced a viral video to warn fans against disreputable tout ticket sellers. ‘Access All Areas’, which has received over 30,000 views so far, follows the fate of a group of music fans who opt to go ‘off road’ obtaining their tickets unofficially, to blag their way backstage at a major gig. They ultimately get left out in the cold in the video. The film can be viewed at our YouTube Channel, or you can watch the video below.
