The heaviest event to happen in Kent since the Vikings briefly turned up a good thousand years or so ago; Hevy Festival 2012 has added plenty more riff fuelled action to its line-up ahead of the event taking place in August.
The most attention from this announcement is undoubtedly going to be focused on Andrew W. K. The party rock icon is going to be headlining the main stage on Saturday and we are pretty certain that he will ensure that partying hard is not optional. If that’s not whetting your appetite then the news that glassjaw are going to turn up to headline the Rock Sound tent surely must. The post-hardcore icons were forced to cancel on the UK after the recent Sonisphere fiasco so the news that they will join Andrew as UK festival exclusives this summer will be welcome to fans.
Also newly announced are UK exclusives in djent forefathers Meshuggah (who absolutely slayed on their UK tour this month), NYHC act Madball and mathcore titans Norma Jean. Less exclusive but no less exciting additions to the bill include rising British stars The James Cleaver Quintet, Feed the Rhino and Hawk Eyes not to mention the likes of Lemuria and War from a Harlot’s Mouth flying in specially. Also newly confirmed has been Bleed from Within, Mallory Knox, Mixtapes, Campus and The Bots.
They join the likes of Descendents, Converge, Will Haven, Rolo Tomassi, Pianos Become the Teeth, Devil Sold His Soul, Verse, Municipal Waste and Blacklisters on a bill packed to the brim with punk and metal heaviness. This certainly looks set to be Hevy’s finest, and heaviest, year to date.
Hevy Festival takes place at Port Lympne Wild Animal Park near Hythe in Kent. Tickets and more information is available from the festival’s official website at www.hevy.co.uk. Weekend camping tickets are priced at just £96.NOTE FROM THE EDITOR We don't run any advertising!
