Nelly Furtado 'I Feel Like Quitting Music After Every Album Release'

Singer-songwriter Nelly Furtado has confessed that she often feels like retiring from music after putting out an album – though she never goes through with her plans and sees each new album process as a 'rebirth'.

The star, who has four albums under her belt and another one the way, has revealed that she often feels like she wants to leave the industry to write a book or return to uni, but always ends up returning to make another album – something which she describes as 'scary'.

Speaking to PopJustice, Furtado explained: “It's scary at times. I literally want to quit after every album. After every single album that I've made, I go through this six-month period where I think I want to go back to university and write a book. It happens every time, but then I just get on with it and make another album and go through this rebirth process, I guess.”

She went on to talk about her label, who apparently wanted an immediate follow-up to her 2006 album 'Loose'.

“After I put out 'Loose' and the tour, there were two ways to look at it. I could either just kinda wait and do it like I usually do in an organic way until that wave of inspiration hits me, which is probably a little bit old school but that's the way I like to work. I don't like that assembly line approach to making music. But then the other thing was, maybe I should just be putting something out right away. But I talked about it with my tour manager and we thought, 'Nah, why wreck the flow?'”

The star's new album 'The Spirit Indestructible' is set for a release next month, whilst you can check her new single 'Big Hoops (The Bigger the Better)' below.
