Michael Buble To Be Honoured With O2 Silver Clef Award

Nordoff Robbins, the national specialist music charity, has announced today that Michael Bublé will win the Raymond Weil ‘International Award’ at the 2012 O2 Silver Clef Awards in support of music charity Nordoff Robbins.

The O2 Silver Clef Awards is hosted by Nordoff Robbins at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on Friday 29th June. The star-studded annual event, known for its ‘who’s who’ audience of A-list musical heavyweights, recognises outstanding musical talent whilst raising money for Nordoff Robbins, the national specialist music charity which uses music to transform the lives of vulnerable children and adults.

Nordoff Robbins makes their third announcement for their annual O2 Silver Clef Awards 2012 today. The Raymond Weil ‘International Award’ will be presented to Michael Bublé who’s vast achievements across the globe include having sold 30 million albums worldwide. He will be presented with his award at this year’s star studded event, the O2 Silver Clef Awards.

Buble says: “I’ve known about Nordoff Robbins for a long, long time, and I know what amazing work they do, so for me to be honoured by THEM is something really special. Thanks so much for this, I’m thrilled to accept it, and I cannot wait to attend this wonderful event.”

The Nordoff Robbins O2 Silver Clef Awards has attracted celebrity support since 1976 with talents including The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Tom Jones, and Status Quo all gracing the stage. Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jessie J and Laura Wright are the most recently announced for awards for 2012 as a diverse range of musical talent is celebrated.

Nordoff Robbins has 60 therapists providing music therapy services to 100 organisations across the UK, amounting to over 50,000 music therapy sessions every year which are delivered in a variety of settings. The annual Nordoff Robbins Silver Clef Awards acts as the main fundraising platform for Nordoff Robbins, which already reaches out to so many. It helps through music therapy to dramatically enhance and in many ways save the lives of people who they work with and their loved ones.

The Raymond Weil ‘International Award’ is presented to someone who has been globally recognised for their achievements and Michael Bublé most certainly has; including three Grammy Awards, a Gemini for Best Performance and eleven Juno Awards. Bublé’s album ‘Call Me Irresponsible’ reached Number 1 in seven countries including the UK, Canada and the U.S. Billboard 200 albums chart, selling over five million copies worldwide.

It was Bublé’s sophomore album ‘This Time’, 2005, and his Top 10 breakthrough single, ‘Home’, which reached Number 1 in Canada, Italy, Japan and the Top 10 in the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Austria and Sweden. ‘Home’ also spent 104 weeks on Billboard’s Top Jazz Chart including 78 weeks in the Number 1 spot. In the two years that followed, Bublé circled the globe eight times, visiting and performing in 40 different countries.

David Munns, Chairman, Nordoff Robbins says: “Michael Bublé is an incredible musical talent and is the perfect candidate for our Raymond Weil International Award at the O2 Silver Clef Awards this year. We are thrilled to be celebrating his global success. The O2 Silver Clef Awards began 37 years ago, and through that event alone we have raised over £8m for Nordoff Robbins, allowing us to use music to transform the lives of many thousands of disadvantaged and vulnerable people. Our music therapy work is life changing but we need to raise more funds to continue to reach those who need it the most.”

Nordoff Robbins reaches out to so many, helping through music therapy to dramatically enhance and in many ways save the lives of people who they work with and their loved ones.
