Taking their name from a ridge of Moorland in their home town of Otley, The Chevin have enjoyed a marvellous first half of 2012. The Yorkshire quartet are gearing up for the release of their debut album ‘Borderland’ by releasing ‘Champion’ on October 15th.
'Champion' is a sprawling anthem that has been heard around football stadiums nationwide and will be featured on the FIFA 2013 soundtrack alongside songs by artists as renowned as Passion Pit and Santigold, 'Champion' is the perfect precursor to ‘Borderland.’
Highlighting the vocal of frontman Coyle Girelli and the ability of the band to create soundscapes that have seen them likened to The Killers, the video (directed by Jon Danovic) is as epic as the song the demands it to be.
A show-stealing performance at T in the Park this year saw The Chevin announce themselves as one of the hottest up-and-coming British bands around. However, their sound is not limited to the shores of Blighty. Our cousins from across the Atlantic have been so impressed that The Chevin have been invited to perform on The Late Show With David Letterman.
On August 29th, The Chevin will join a number of major acts who have performed on the famous show recently, including Foster The People and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Coyle Girelli and Co are sure to impress both viewers and studio guest Michelle Obama with an expansive brand of rousing stadium rock that has already seen them play alongside White Lies at Wembley Arena and tour with Franz Ferdinand.
