Paul Weller has been confirmed as the first artist to sign up for the Forestry Commission’s 2013 Forest Live concert series. Special guests for the Forest concerts are to be confirmed shortly.
There are few performers who have enjoyed the kind of success and influence over four decades that Paul Weller has. Having notched-up six era-defining albums with The Jam; five with The Style Council and eleven as a solo artist including his most recent Number One release ‘Sonik Kicks’, the follow-up to 2010’s Mercury Music Prize nominated ‘Wake Up The Nation’.
Forest Live, organised by the Forestry Commission, brings music to new audiences without commercial branding or sponsorship. Income from the concerts is spent on improving the woodland for both people and wildlife.
Having performed previously to capacity crowds in 2004 and 2009, Paul Weller said, “It will be good for me to be back in the woods. I really enjoy the unique atmosphere of these gigs as do the fans.”
In addition to the Forest concerts, the modfather will also perform at Northampton's Delapre Park on 19th July.
