Burn Studios Launch Competition To Find Ibiza's Next Resident DJ

With the success of the 2012 residency competition, Burn Studios are back again this year with another DJ competition that looks to discover and showcase some of the most up-and-coming disc jockeys from around the world.

Hopeful winners will be allocated a summer in the stunning and spectacular home to EDM (electronic dance music) – Ibiza. In 2012, thousands of budding producers and mixers from many countries from around the world put forward mixes in hope of securing the ultimate prize for the summer; a residency in one of Ibiza’s top clubs.

Last year, lucky competition winners Manu Vulcano, Adam Zasada and Urban Jeram fulfilled their dreams of playing residencies in Sankeys, Café Mambo and Privilege respectively.

For 2013, 18 disc jockeys, which will have already shown their potential to obtain their winning tickets, will be flown to Ibiza for an intense boot camp where they will be taught, fine-tuned and educated in the ways of mixing by some of the best in the business.

The first place on the itinerary will be to attend the iconic International Music Summit at the Gran Hotel in Ibiza, where producers, promoters, DJ’s and fans all meet to converse about the upcoming year for electronic music.

In 2012, Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, 2manydj’s and at the time, World Number 1 DJ David Guetta, helped mentor the fortunate budding dj’s and aid them with insight from every angle on how to establish themselves in a market that shows no signs of slowing down, as EDM flourishes and prospers into the charts all around the world. From promotion, production, image and performance, the competition seems to be fully comprehensive and will leave no record unturned or unmixed.

For 2013, Burn Studios have brought in Solomun, a DJ of mixed origins himself, being a German based Bosnian-born Canadian known for his contribution to house. Joining him in the boot camp will be Steve Lawler, a man highly regarded by his industry peers as being one of the best in the game and a child of the acid-house generation.

Maceo Plex has also been confirmed as one of the official mentors, bringing his delightful interplanetary and galactic funk to the boot camp. With the experience and diversity between the three, the lucky contest winners will not be short of industry experience and with the 100’s, if not thousands of dj’s descending on the Mecca of EDM (Ibiza) this summer, there will no doubt be a few guest lecturers (dj’s) that will turn up for some extra curricula activities.

To submit your application, a mix (maximum 20 minutes) must be submitted to www.mixcloud.com/competitions/burnstudiosresidency anytime from now to March 18th. Mixes must include at least one track from the Beatport’s top 100.
