Stereoboard Look At The Best Smart Phone Music Apps

Wednesday, 17 April 2013 Written by Brad Norris

Although there are lots of music apps available for downloading to a mobile phone, this doesn’t mean that they are all the same. Gaining more and more popularity – music apps are on a par with gaming ones for mobile devices. The most common type of music app is one that enables the user to download music onto their mobile device, but there are also other kinds available as well, and the sheer number of music apps can make finding what you want a little tricky.

When it comes to apps for downloading music, there is a choice between ones which allow the user to get download and listen to songs, and those that provide live music. When it comes to the former of these, one of the best ones you can choose is MOG, which acts as a subscription to a music database. The actual monthly cost is minimal (approximately $10 per month) and for this you get unlimited downloading access. Furthermore the actual database of music is huge, and the app works on all Apple devices as well as ones with Android, making it very user-friendly. There are also other music streaming apps such as Spotify and Rdio, which prove hugely popular, and rightly so.

However if you prefer to download live gigs instead, then NPR Radio is a great app, which again gives you access to a massive – and constantly updated - library of gigs for download. It also features pre-release album downloads and interviews with the artists, as well as being completely free to download. There's also another new app worth checking out for live gigs - EVNTLIVE. On the other hand, if you prefer to discover new bands that you may grow to love, then Daytrotter is the perfect app to check out. It showcases upcoming bands live for download to mobile phones. It is free to get on your phone and, in addition to providing you with a new live band session each day, also allows you to access, through their archive, older sessions – often featuring bands that have gone on to hit it big.

As mobile phones get more powerful and people have access to more information from their smartphones, many choose to replace their mp3s and iPods with these devices. If you buy a smartphone nowadays, chances are it will have an ample amount of space to store all your favourite tracks. If you shop around, especially online using sites like www.dialaphone.co.uk (as you tend to get a better deal) and compare all the best phones, you will be able to find one that would be most suited to your needs. For music lovers it’s best to have a phone with enough storage and battery power to spend all day listening to music!
