Sound Of Contact Release Debut Music Video For First Single 'Not Coming Down'

Thursday, 16 May 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Sound of Contact are set to release their debut concept album ‘Dimensionaut’ on the 20th May 2013, and the band are currently out on tour in Europe as part of the InsideOut Music 20th Anniversary shows with Spock’s Beard and Beardfish. Recently a select few industry members and close friends and family were treated to a screening of the band’s fantastic debut music video for ‘Not Coming Down’, the first single to be taken from 'Dimensionaut'. Simon Collins, co-writer/producer, vocalist and drummer for Sound of Contact had this to say about the video's concept and its making:

"We're excited to be premiering the music video for our single "Not Coming Down" as it is not only the first full song most people will be hearing from our debut album "Dimensionaut" but it is also a significant moment in our concept album's storyline. Each of the music videos being made for our new album are like an episode in the overall story and this one reveals an event in our character's journey where he hits rock bottom from a state of spiritual poverty. He is faced with the delicate balance of life and this acts as the catalyst for the realization of who he truly is, a Dimensionaut".

Dave Kerzner, co-writer/producer and keyboardist for Sound of Contact, adds:

"The song is also about a point of no return which can so easily be reached when certain lines are crossed. Radical life changes can happen in any given moment to anyone. We sometimes forget how fragile we are."

In the video, Simon Collins, son of Phil Collins, is on vocals and drums, Dave Kerzner is on keyboards, Matt Dorsey on bass and joining them for the video is touring guitarist John Wesley (Porcupine Tree, Fish). They are accompanied by a string quintet. Collins also plays the character 'Dimensionaut' in the video who is continually trying to escape who he really is. Actress Michelle Martinez plays his love interest and is faced with difficult challenges witnessing the resistance he has to his highly unusual life as well as a strange flying object that begins hovering above him as his condition deteriorates. She does her best to save him from his ultimate climactic moment of transformation.

The brainchild of Simon Collins and keyboardist/co-producer Dave Kerzner, Sound of Contact marks the beginning of something that Collins had always wanted to put his hand to after ten years of promoting his own solo career. With the help of Kerzner as well as Matt Dorsey, Kelly Nordstrom and Hannah Stobart (Wishing Tree) and with an album mixed by Nick Davis (Genesis, XTC, Marillion), this vision has come to fruition.

To give everyone a first impression of what to expect from the album, the band put together a teaser video with snippets of each song.
