Incredible Demand For One Direction Tickets Sees Servers And Websites Crashing

Yesterday, we published a story predicting that around 1,000,000 One Direction fans would be scrambling for just 250,000 tickets for their 2014 UK and Ireland stadium tour, and that they would sell out in just minutes this morning. Well, it seems we may have underestimated things - as there are so many of you 1D fans trying to buy tickets that websites and servers across the country are crashing and struggling to keep up!

As with any big tour, tickets sell like hotcakes, and you often see shows - or an entire tour - selling out in just minutes. For example, this year we’ve seen tickets for Beyonce’s ‘Mrs Carter Show’ world tour selling out within just three minutes, while The Rolling Stones’ Hyde Park show sold out in the same time.

Tickets for One Direction’s stadium tour next year haven’t managed to sell out just yet - but that's simply down to the intense demand causing ticketing websites to become incredibly slow (or in some cases, unusable), with fans experiencing very long waits just to see whether they’ve been lucky and managed to bag a pair of tickets.

So yes, that means this 1D tour is currently hotter and more in-demand than both Beyonce’s and The Rolling Stones’ tours/shows - in fact, we don’t think we’ve seen such a crazy rush for tickets since as far back as Take That’s Progress Live tour a couple of years ago, and that was one of the biggest tours the UK has ever seen.

In fact, demand has just reached such a high that the group have just announced even more dates - as just one stadium show is no longer big enough to house all their fans! And, we expect that throughout the day, more dates may even be added - so keep your eyes peeled on Stereoboard.
