Vattnett Viskar Announce Details Of New Album

Friday, 28 June 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

After releasing their self-titled EP last year to critical acclaim, New Hampshire’s Vattnet Viskar is now ready to unleash their debut full-length album, 'Sky Swallower', this autumn via Century Media Records.

Due out September 9 in Europe, 'Sky Swallower' was recorded at Universal Noise Storage with producer Brett Boland at the helm and features eight tracks of crushingly ambient, blackened doom metal.

Hailing from the small town of Plaistow, New Hampshire, Vattnet Viskar is anything but small. Formed in 2010, the band has quickly risen amongst the ranks of US black metal acts with their self-titled EP, which was named one of the best metal albums of 2012 by Pitchfork.com, Stereogum.com, and others.

Not content to keep their blackened-doom alchemy confined to the studio, however, they back it up with a thundering live performance. Having already shared the stage with such titans as Black Anvil, Inquisition and Woods Of Ypres, they have left their mark throughout the US with a seemingly endless string of shows, including a stop at last year’s SXSW festival, playing three shows throughout the event.
