Noah And The Whale Post Video For 'Lifetime'

Tuesday, 02 July 2013 Written by Jon Stickler

Noah And The Whale will release a new single, Lifetime, on August 8. The second single to be taken from the band’s celebrated new album, 'Heart Of Nowhere', the release of Lifetime comes amid a busy summer’s touring schedule that includes the band’s first festival headline slot, at Wilderness, alongside performances at T In The Park and a number of major European festivals.

As Noah And The Whale’s Charlie Fink says: "Lifetime is a song written about when I was a teenager”, so he wanted the accompanying video to reflect this experience. To this end, he wrote to Fourteen-Nineteen, London-based artists Alex F Webb and Lewis Chaplin who, since the age of 16 have been running a project which aims to celebrate and critically engage with the work of young photographers through publishing, exhibitions, online galleries and more.

For Lifetime, Webb & Chaplin teamed up with Ben Pender, a D&AD award winning designer, film-maker and long-time friend. The trio took their immediate peer group as inspiration, spending two long days with their eyes glued to old camcorders, filming friends, collaborators and strangers. They then juxtaposed this serene, tender footage with the personal archives of another long-time friend and collaborator, creating an oscillating movement between visceral, lived experiences and how these experiences reflect and shape ideas and presentations of self.
