Bookies Slash Odds Of Oasis Glastonbury 2014 Headline Slot

Thursday, 01 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

Bookies have slashed the odds of Britpop titans Oasis reforming to headline Glastonbury next year, despite the warring Gallagher brothers rubbishing reunion rumours dozens of times in the past.

Oasis split back in 2009, with Liam and Noel Gallagher both starting their own separate projects (Liam fronts Beady Eye, while Noel has a chart-topping solo project, High Flying Birds).

But, this week, bookies have dropped the odds of the band headlining Glastonbury 2014’s Saturday from 16/1 to 9/1, while the odds of the band reforming have also been slashed from 12/1 to 5/1.

A Paddy Power spokesperson told NME:

“We've seen a lot of money being placed on Noel and Liam burying the hatchet, reforming, and rocking Glastonbury – it's enough to make anyone think there could be an expensive divorce or paternity claim just around the corner.”

Don’t get too excited, though - they’re still far from favourites for the Pyramid stage next year. Kasabian, Daft Punk and David Bowie are at 8/1 to headline, but out in front are Foo Fighters - who are working on a new album - at 4/1. Oasis are equal in chances to Elbow - while Olly Murs fans are pretty much out of luck at 100/1!
