Daft Punk To Make Surprise Appearance at MTV VMAs?

Friday, 09 August 2013 Written by Elliott Batte

French house duo Daft Punk may be making a surprise appearance at the MTV VMAs, if Stephen Colbert is to be believed.

The Get Lucky stars are still riding the wave of success created by their brand new album 'Random Access Memories', and were scheduled to appear on Colbert's US show The Colbert Report earlier this week.

But after they pulled out - unexpectedly and at just two hours notice - the comedian and host said (via NME):

"Here’s the story: it’s a true story. We booked click and clack [Daft Punk] over here about a month ago. This network is owned by Viacom, which is also the owner of MTV. Apparently, Daft Punk are going to make a surprise appearance on the MTV Video Music Awards. Don’t tell anyone, because fun fact: no one told me until two hours ago."

If he's to be believed, we could very be seeing Daft Punk performing at the MTV VMAs, which will take place on August 25 at Brooklyn's Barclays Centre in New York.
