Christine McVie will be re-joining legendary rockers Fleetwood Mac for two shows on their upcoming UK and European tour, it has been confirmed.
The iconic band, which consists of Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, and Christine’s former husband John McVie, are set to kick off a lengthy tour of the UK and Europe later this month.
McVie hasn’t performed with the band since 1998 but did play with Mick Fleetwood and ex-husband John with the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band in Hawaii earlier this year. Now, she’s set for an epic return to the British-American outfit - albeit just for what’s said to be two of their up and coming shows.
The news was broken by singer Stevie Nicks, who told BBC Radio 4’s Woman's Hour:
“She is going to come and do a song on the second two shows. I think it will probably be Don't Stop. I don't know, but she's coming to Ireland to rehearse with us.”
It’ll come as a massive surprise to Fleetwood Mac fans, who were told by Nicks late on last year that there was more of a chance of an asteroid hitting earth than Christine joining them live on stage. But we doubt anyone will be complaining - check out some Twitter reaction below.
Nicks was full of praise for McVie during the interview, and told of the challenges they both faced as women in the music industry:
“Both of us in a man's world, from the very beginning, we made a pact that we would be a force of nature together. And we were. We had a lot of power when there were two of us. That wasn't really so noticeable to us because we just had it until she left.
"And then when she left I realised how much power we had when she was there, and how when she left she took 50% of the power with her… I felt powerless in many ways.”
