Damnation Adds Final Acts To 2013 Line-Up

Wednesday, 25 September 2013 Written by Ben Bland

With the festival now just over a month away, Leeds based Damnation Festival has completed its 2013 line-up. With the festival increased to four stages there is now an overwhelming amount of choice offered to punters, with everything from black, death, doom and sludge metal to post-rock and progressive.

Confirmed to round off the festival’s new doom based stage in the tiny bunker-like Mine venue are a trio of the UK’s slowest and most hypnotically heavy acts in the shape of Conan, who wowed many a visitor with their slabs of dense sound in 2011, Black Magician and Iron Witch. They join a stage already featuring the likes of Moss and Mourning Beloveth.

The mighty Terrorizer stage, the most extreme of all at Damnation, will take over the new fourth room at Damnation 2013, the Riley Smith Hall, and will be headlined by the already announced Rotting Christ. Joining them as new additions will be death metallers Dyscarnate and Diamanthian, the latter of whom have been approved by Jeff Walker of Jagermeister Stage headliners Carcass.

The final new group to be confirmed in this latest announcement are Polish post-rockers Tides from Nebula, who will play on the Eyesore Merch Stage in the Stylus venue. This stage will also play host to Swedish post-metal behemoths Cult of Luna, prog maestros Crippled Black Phoenix and German conceptual sludge stalwarts The Ocean, amongst others.

The Jagermeister Stage, the largest of all those at Damnation, has already confirmed its full line-up. The aforementioned Carcass top the bill, with support from KatatoniaGod Seed and more. The final message from festival organiser Gavin McInally to fans ahead of the event has a definite ring of truth about it; “At just £34 a ticket we believe this line-up deserves a ‘Sold Out’ plaster across it and with five weeks to go, that’s our target, so please keep up the support”.

Tickets for Damnation Festival are available now from www.leedstickets.co.uk. Visit the festival website at www.damnationfestival.co.uk for more information or visit the festival on facebook at www.facebook.com/damnationfestival.

The festival takes place on November 2 at Leeds University Student Union.
