Despite fresh rumours circulating the Internet, Oxford shoegaze outfit Ride are not set to reform.
Fans were crossing their fingers on Thursday as reports from various news sources claimed that Ride would be returning for a live date in Canada. The rumour has since been debunked as the original Uncut article cited by several outlets actually turned out to be an old story posted back in 2007.
The news was broken by a moderator on the original article, who wrote that he was ‘sorry to get anyone's hopes up!’. However, fans shouldn’t give up hope of a Ride reunion tour just yet, as the band haven’t ruled out reuniting. As ClashMusic point out, guitarist Andy Bell - who is currently performing in Beady Eye - made some positive comments last year:
“Well, never say never. We're good friends now. We get together once a year and just have a few pints and whatever. We're all pretty busy with what we're doing, but personally, it would be a shame if we never got to play those songs one more time.”
