Former Lostprophets Frontman Ian Watkins Sentenced To 35 Years

Wednesday, 18 December 2013 Written by Huw Baines

Ian Watkins, former frontman of Welsh rock band Lostprophets, has been sentenced to a total of 35 years after pleading guilty to 13 child sex offences.

Wales Online reports that the 36-year-old, of Pontypridd, will serve 29 years in jail, with six on an extended licence. His two co-defendants, the mothers of children involved, known only as Woman A and Woman B, received sentences of 14 and 17 years respectively.

The judge at Cardiff Crown Court, Mr Justice Royce, said:  "I am satisfied that you are a deeply corrupting influence. You are highly manipulative. You are a sexual predator. You are dangerous. The public, and in particular young females and children, need protection from you."

The remaining members of Lostprophets confirmed their split in October. During their time together they released five studio records and sold in excess of three million albums.
