LØLØ has had a whirlwind few years. Gaining popularity on TikTok during Covid, the Canadian musician subsequently signed with Hopeless Records and put out her breakout debut ‘Falling For Robots And Wishing I Was One’ in 2024.

Its punchy follow-up ‘God Forbid A Girl Spits Out Her Feelings!’ has the potential to supercharge that rise, with heartbreak and integrity at the core of a record that deserves to be regarded as a modern pop-punk masterpiece.

The pop-rock title track is a clear indicator of where things are headed, with a soothing acoustic guitar melody at the helm as LØLØ tackles the contrasting emotions of dealing with others’ bad intentions.

Me With No Shirt On, meanwhile, is a stylistic curveball, and insightful, crucial exposé on the potential dangers of sending explicit photoa over almost whimsical production.

Dumbest Girl In The World is instantly compelling and relatable in its dissection of running back to an ex when you know they aren’t good for you — an absolute banger that will keep you hooked. Delusional Darling is also a highlight, vocally echoing a grungier Billie Eilish.

The Devil Wears Converse shifts into impeccably-assembled upbeat pop-punk, showcasing ‘God Forbid A Girl Spits Out Her Feelings!’ as an addictive, smooth record delivered with a welcome sprinkling of pop rock vigour that recalls Avril Lavigne in her ‘00s pomp. LØLØ is a force to be reckoned with.
