'Four Or Five' Unreleased Johnny Cash Albums Still In The Vaults

Thursday, 27 March 2014 Written by Elliott Batte

John Carter Cash, son of legendary country star Johnny Cash, has confirmed that 'four or five' albums' worth of material remains unreleased.

'Out Among The Stars', a lost record from the '80s, will see a release next week, but that album could just be the beginning. Recordings from Cash's 'American' era, where he worked alongside Rick Rubin, are among many songs in the famly vault. Cash told the Guardian:

"There are a few things that are in the works right now – probably four or five albums if we wanted to release everything. There may be three or four albums' worth of American Recordings stuff, but some of it may never see the light of day."
