Oxegen 2014 Scrapped By Promoters

Tuesday, 22 April 2014 Written by Huw Baines

Oxegen, one of Ireland's largest festivals, will not be staged in 2014.

In a short statement, promoters MCD blamed a "lack of suitable headline acts" and "financial demands by local agencies" for the decision. They said:

"It is with regret that MCD announce that OXEGEN will not take place this year due to lack of suitable Headline Acts which combined with the financial demands by local agencies make it no longer viable to stage the Festival in its current form."

Last year Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Snoop Dogg were among the names at the top of the Oxegen bill, with the festival staged at Punchestown Racecourse, its home since 2004.
