Plu Announce November Release For 'Tir a Golau'

Wednesday, 04 November 2015 Written by Dave Ball

Plu have announced that their third album, ‘Tir a Golau’ (meaning Land and Light), will be released on November 14 through the Sbrigyn Ymborth label.

Formed in 2012, the Snowdonian folk trio put out their self titled debut the following year and 'Holl Anifeiliaid Y Goedwig' in 2014, with both nominated for Welsh language album of the year at the National Eisteddfod.

Recorded at Bryn Derwen Studios, Bethesda and Sain Studios, Llandwrog the album reprised their relationship with Aled Hughes of Cowbois Rhos Botwnnog, who also produced their debut. Of the album, Elan Rhys said:

“As the title suggests, many of the songs on the album were inspired by the landscape around us. To reflect this, we wanted to experiment with our sound by building layers and melodies. We also were able to take advantage of all the different instruments available at Bryn Derwen. It was also lovely to be able to introduce other musicians to play on some of the songs.”

Plu will showcase tracks from the new record while playing support slots for Carwyn Ellis of Colorama, starting November 19 in Liverpool. The shows will also see Ellis and the band performing songs together from an upcoming collaborative project.
