Thurston Moore Shares New Single Cease Fire And Announces Summer UK Shows

Thurston Moore has shared a new single and announced a run of UK shows.
The Sonic Youth frontman will release Cease Fire, an "anti-gun song", on March 1 via Caroline International. The track was recorded last year in London with bassist Deb Googe, guitarist James Sedwards and guest drummer Jem Doulton. Discussing it, he said:
“Guns are designed to kill and we, as non-violent human beings, are against the killing of any person or animal. The song is also about the power of love, in all its freedom of choice. A power that no gun can extinguish as love will rule always. Melt down your guns and kiss your neighbor.”
Moore has also announced four summer UK shows with The Thurston Moore Group, which features Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth and Sun Kil Moon, Googe, of My Bloody Valentine and Primal Scream, and Sedwards, of N?ught and Chrome Hoof.
The band will call at St. Lukes in Glasgow, Manchester's Gorilla, the Lantern in Bristol and the Scala in London between June 12 and 15. Tickets go on general sale at 10am on March 10.
Moore will also play London's Jazz Cafe on April 11 with Black Top and support Swans at the Roundhouse in London on May 27.
