Marianne Faithfull Shares Nick Cave Collaboration The Gypsy Faerie Queen

Wednesday, 19 September 2018 Written by Laura Johnson

Marianne Faithfull has released a new track she co-wrote with Nick Cave.

The Gypsy Faerie Queen is the first single to be taken from her new album, 'Negative Capability', which is due out on November 2 and also boasts contributions from Cave's Bad Seeds Rob Ellis and  Warren Ellis, Ed Harcourt and Mark Lanegan.

The new record is not the first time Faithfull has collaborated with Cave, having worked with him on her 2005 LP 'Before The Poison'. It will be her first full length offering since 2014's 'Give My Love To London' and follows up her 2016 live album, 'No Exit'.

The track is written from the persepective of the fairy Puck from William Shakespeare's A Midsummer's Night Dream. It has an ethereal air and Faithfull gives a delicate and captivating vocal performance.
