The Darkness Share New Song Rock And Roll Deserves To Die From Upcoming Album 'Easter In Cancelled'

Tuesday, 06 August 2019 Written by Jon Stickler

The Darkness have shared a video for their new song.

Titled Rock And Roll Deserves To Die, the five-minute track flits between gentle, acoustic guitars and exploding monumental riffs and serves as the first preview of the Lowestoft rockers' upcoming concept album, 'Easter Is Cancelled', out on October 4 through Cooking Vinyl. Talking about the new material, bassist Frankie Poullain said:

"A lot of bands have relinquished their duty. Rock and roll is so uniform now. Everybody dresses the same, looks the same, sounds the same. It’s pathetic. It deserves to die. Let’s kill the cliché. Let’s break the crucifix. That’s partly what the album is about."

The Darkness will embark on a UK and Ireland tour this autumn in support of the album. Their plans also include European shows early next year.

No Boundaries: Haggard Cat Talk New Album 'Common Sense Holiday'
Thu 16 Jan 2020
Photo: Carla Mundy How do you make a sound like Haggard Cat? No, not the high-pitched yowl of a scrawny feline, but hefty, high-energy, blues-driven noise. The answer, surprisingly, isn’t found by assembling a boat-load of angry punks ready to thrash out an adrenaline-fuelled racket. Instead, the raw materials are provided by but a pair of humble, giggly mates from Nottingham. “The rawest, most honest form of us playing music is just the two of us,” guitarist and vocalist Matt Reynolds notes. “That’s how we write.”
