Sufjan Stevens And Angelo De Augustine Release New Songs Back To Oz And Fictional California

Tuesday, 10 August 2021 Written by Jon Stickler

Sufjan Stevens and Angelo De Augustine have unveiled two new songs, Back To Oz and Fictional California.

Referencing 1985's Wizard Of Oz sequel Return to Oz, the former is a delicate, folky track that offers up breathy vocals and soft harmonies. It's backed by the latter fingerpicked indie-folk b-side.

Following Reach Out and Olympus, both songs will appear on the Asthmatic Kitty labelmates' upcoming collaborative album, 'A Beginner's Mind', out on September 24.

Stevens' ninth studio LP, 'Convocations', was released in May.
