Unknown Mortal Orchestra Announce Double Album 'V' With New Single Layla

Unknown Mortal Orchestra have announced a new double album.
'V' is scheduled to arrive through Jagjaguwar on March 17, marking their first full-length in four years. It was created between Palm Springs, California, and the coastline of Hilo, Hawaii, and serves as the follow-up to 'Sex & Food', released in 2018. Frontman Ruban Nielson commented:
"In Hawaii, everything shifted off of me and my music. Suddenly, I was spending more time figuring out what others need and what my role is within my family. I also learned that things I thought were true of myself are bigger than I thought. My way of making mischief - that’s not just me - that’s my whole Polynesian side. I thought I was walking away from music to focus on family, but the two ended up connecting."
As a preview, the band have unveiled Layla, a groove-based, playful song that has a catchy hook and follows last autumn's single, I Killed Captain Cook. Head below to watch the accompanying cinematic video, directed by Vira-Lata, which serves as part one of a two-part story focusing on two young women.
The band will support the record with their first tour in four years, kicking off in March, with shows confirmed across North America, followed by dates in the UK in May and June. They'll also headline End Of The Road festival in the UK in August. Tickets are on sale now.
