What The World Needs Now - The Burt Bacharach Songbook will tour the UK.
The late Bacharach’s longtime musical director Rob Shirakbari will lead the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in celebratory shows in Southend, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Gateshead, Halifax, Leicester and Bournemouth between October 5 and 13.
They will perform Bacharach classics such as The Look of Love, Walk on By, Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head, Anyone Who Had a Heart, Make It Easy On Yourself and What The World Needs Now Is Love. Shirakbari said:
“These songs are the star of the show, and we’re here to serve the music as he intended. I know he’d be proud to see his work reaching fans old and new.”
Each night will feature special guest performances from Rumer (pictured), who worked closely with Bacharach, and Mercury Prize-nominated singer-songwriter Ed Harcourt (except Southend), with more guests still to be announced.
Tickets go on general sale at 9am on Friday (March 27), except Southend and Birmingham which go on sale April 2.
Prior to the autumn tour, the show will head to the Royal Albert Hall in London on July 2 with guests Dionne Warwick, Rumer, Shaun Escoffery and more. Tickets for that concert are already on sale.
