Anitta has enlisted Shakira for a new single called Choka Choka.
Co-produced by Rio de Janeiro's Papatinho and Grammy-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter Doramola, the funk-infused Latin pop track features Anitta performing in Spanish and Shakira in Portuguese.
The song is the second preview of Anitta new album, 'Equilibrivm', due out on April 16. In a statement, she said:
“Each track on my album ‘EQUILIBRIVM’ is very intentional, especially in its message. ‘Choka Choka’ is about a free woman—self-aware, cheeky, complex, and incredibly powerful. Elements that have always been part of my universe."
Doramola added: "Anitta wanted to create something for Brazil, but with an international touch. So I went into the studio with that in mind: to create something that made a lot of sense in Brazil, but also worldwide. Papatinho is a legend and created an incredible funk percussion. I experimented with that on the drums. The song has a lot of energy, a lot of intensity. And who better to represent that sound than Anitta and Shakira?"
The Brazilian singer previously shared the single Pinterest from the album, which follows last December's 'Ensaios da Anitta' and 2024's 'Funk Generation'.
She'll perform Choka Choka on NBC's Saturday Night Live tomorrow (April 11), where she'll appear as the musical guest alongside host Colman Domingo, before taking her Baile Funk Experience Tour to Mexico and Brazil over the next couple of weeks.
Shakira, meanwhile, just announced a new run of US dates for June and July as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The new dates will precede the Colombian artist's European residency at the purpose-built "Shakira Stadium" in Madrid, Spain in September and October. Tickets are on sale now.
