The music fairy first visited Steve Harley when he was stuck in hospital, suffering from Polio as a child. It was listening to Bob Dylan songs on the radio that inspired Steve to get into the music game. The hand of Bob is indeed mighty. Click Here to Compare & Buy Cockney Rebel Tickets.

Icon that he is, Steve Harley has recorded eleven albums in his career and among the singles comes the classic ‘Make me Smile (Come up and See me)’ which has been heartily covered by all and sundry and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ which Harley heartily covered from the Beatles. Back in the seventies, Steve was up there with Bowie and Roxie Music as a respected, genre-hopping experimentalist. This was made all the more impressive by the fact that his original band never used to use guitars. They walked out on him though, so he got a new one with a guitarist and became even more successful. Showed them.

A little known Steve Harley fact is that he was all set to play The Phantom of the Opera, before Michael Crawford got the gig at the 11th hour. He’s never really known why. The temptation to drop a chandelier on someone must have been intense.
