Plan B - Prayin' (Single Review)

It’s very much a case of where did it all go so right for London singer/rapper Plan B in 2010. His single She Said has been lurking at every corner for months and album The Defamation of Strickland Banks topped the UK Album chart going platinum in the process. Putting the rapping aside 4 minutes Plan B now brings new single Prayin’ to our ears and stereos.

Rather stretching his limited vocal chords to something between sweet and soulful, Plan B soothes with a catchy Northern Soul influenced track that wriggles and dances its way into memory. Coupled with a funky beat and stirring wall of sound, the track climbs comfortably upon your shoulders to clasp your attention, holding your attention like an alluring catching of the eye. The lyrics impress too, as lines like “so there we are, an angle and a man, just standing there with blood on our hands” push the rapper’s skills as a poet forward as well as his ability to sing.

The East-End boy has the Midas touch right now and it’s difficult to not see this top the UK Chart on its release on July 12th. And why the hell not? The rapper has produced something special here and he won’t need much praying to see it succeed believe you me.

STEREOBOARD RATING - 4/5.
