Kele - Tenderoni (Single Review)

London indie scene big hitters Bloc Party have been crawling ever closer into the flashing neon lights of dance music for quite some now. So it comes as no surprise that the man behind their sound Kele Okereke, (now shortened to just Kele) has fired his very own project spinning directly into the heart of the dance world.

Tenderoni the debut single from his first solo album The Boxer due out at the end of June is an action packed affair. Pounding with a synthy beat not dissimilar to those that Dizzee Rascal so brilliantly uses, Kele thrusts the chorus into your face with Bloc Party-esque ferociousness and style. Teaming with producer XXXchange, the track forcibly pulses; pushing Kele’s ever enthusiastic liveliness to such an extent, it’s as if the man himself is dancing in your brain. Not a bad start for the Bloc Party singer, who clearly needed to shake the shackles of a band, let his hair down and try out something semi-new. Like or lump it, Kele’s here to make you move; and we most definitely have our dancing shoes on.

STEREOBOARD RATING - 4/5.
