Rick Wakeman is a keyboardist and singer-songwriter from London, widely recognised for his time in the legendary progressive rock band Yes.
Starting his musical career in 1969 as a session musician, he worked with the likes of David Bowie, T. Rex, Elton John, and Cat Stevens before joining Yes in 1971. He released several albums with the band, departing and rejoining several times throughout their time. He launched his his solo career in 1973, dropping ‘The Six Wives of Henry VIII’ that same year, and has continued to release music ever since. His latest album, 'The Red Planet', arrived in 2020. He has also appeared on TV and radio, including presenting his own show on Planet Rock and contributing to the BBC’s Grumpy Old Men. He has headlined his own shows and tours across the world, as a member of Yes, ARW and as a solo artist. Notably, he headlined the inaugural Stone Free Festival in June 2016 at The O2, London. Rick Wakeman will take his Grumpy Christmas Stocking Tour across the UK in November and December 2022. In February 2023, he'll be taking over The London Palladium for two unique shows, where he will reimagine songs from both his solo back catalogue and a collection of YES classics.
