The Fairport Cropredy Convention is a music festival in the Oxfordshire countryside that hosts the finest in folk and folk rock like Lindisfarne, Julie Fowlis, Steeleye Span, Ralph McTell, Cara Dillon, but has also seen the likes of Alice Cooper, Robert Plant, Status Quo, Steve Winwood and Buzzcocks on the bill.
The festival ignited when Fairport the band split up in 1979, and played a farewell show in Cropredy. A year later they decided to reconvene with some friends for what would become their annual reunion. Although they had performed in Cropredy before, 1980 is the year Fairport recognise as the first Cropredy Festival. The festival has continued (on various sites including Broughton Castle) up to the present day, increasing in size from a couple of thousand to its current capacity of 20,000.
Fairport Cropredy Convention in 2018 sees headliners the Levellers take to the stage, as well as Richard Digance, Al Stewart, Fish, Le Vent Du Nord, and Sam Kelly and The Lost Boys. Catch them live by checking out the festival dates and concert ticket information below on Stereoboard.
