Sting is a singer-songwriter and musician from Wallsend, Northumberland.
He started his musical career in 1977 as a member of The Police, with whom he released five albums and countless hit singles. The band split in 1984, and just a year later Sting began to release music under his own name, starting with his debut album, 1985's The Dream of the Blue Turtles. He has since put out a further 14 solo records, the most recent being 'The Bridge' in 2021. Throughout his career as a solo artist and with The Police, he has received some of the biggest honours in music and entertainment, with 17 Grammys, three BRIT Awards, a Polar Prize, an Ivor Novello Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as a Golden Globe, Emmy and four nominations for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards under his belt. In 2019, he received a BMI Award for Every Breath You Take, which had become the most played song in radio history. He has also been inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a CBE from Queen Elizabeth II. Sting will bring his My Songs Tour across the UK, Ireland and Europe in summer 2023, which includes a headline slot at Lytham Festival. He has also lined up a North American tour throughout the second half of the year, with further European dates lined up in the autumn. Sting and Shaggy will curate and headline the inaugural edition of One Fine Day festival in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 9, 2023.
