Throwing Muses are an American alt-rock and post-punk outfit hailing from Newport, Rhode Island. Formed in 1981 by lead vocalists Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly, it now consists of Hersh (also on guitar) alongside bassist Bernard Georges and drummer David Narcizo.
Signed to 4AD and later striking another deal with Warner Bros., they released nine studio albums over their 30+ year career, even managing to break into the UK Top 10 in 1995 with ‘University’. Along the way the band played some epic live shows, even embarking on a UK tour which saw them supported by the Pixies, and hitting some of the biggest stages the world has to offer. Their last tour before modern times concluded after the release of their 1997 record ‘Limbo’. Despite two break-ups and a number of line-up changes, they’re still going to this day and put out their latest LP ‘Purgatory/Paradise’ in November 2013 - catch them live in the UK in September 2014 performing in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Leeds, and more with special guest Tanya Donelly!
