Belle and Sebastian are a Scottish indie pop band from Glasgow, consisting of Richard Colburn, Mick Cooke, Chris Geddes, Stevie Jackson, Bob Kildea, Sarah Martin and Stuart Murdoch.
Formed in 1996, the band recorded demos whilst at Stow College, which led to the college’s label Electric Honey releasing the band’s debut album ‘Tigermilk’ in 1996.
The band have released nine albums, including their breakthrough album, ‘The Boy with the Arab Strap’, which hit #12 in the UK Albums Chart and their seventh album, ‘The Life Pursuit’, which became their highest charting album to date, reaching #8, and spawned the single, Funny Little Frog, which hit #13 in the UK Singles Chart. The band released their latest album, ‘Girls in Peacetime Want To Dance’, in 2015 via Matador Records.
In 2016, they released the Jeepster Singles Collection Box Set, featuring remastered versions of seven 12" EPs, a DVD, three replica fanzines from the 1990s, and more.
The band have headlined their own shows and tours across the UK and USA, including a show with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl. They have also supported the likes of The Shins, and played festivals such as Latitude, Glastonbury, and Green Man.
After spending 2018 so far touring around the UK, Europe, Australia and North America, Belle and Sebastian will play Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall on August 24 with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Catch them live by checking out the tour dates and ticket information below on Stereoboard.
