Let’s begin with a little story about a record label, Factory Records, a pioneering label set up by Tony Wilson and Alan Erasmus, in the 70’s, which was all about Manchester, all about the groups, the passion, the desire, the class, the art and most importantly the music.
Factory Records was a pioneering label which was not about profit margins or number 1 singles, but about great groups and great music.
It is because of Factory Records that we have Joy Division, Durutti Column, The Wake, A Certain Ratio, James, New Order, Happy Mondays and so many more who were influenced by these and more.

Before I get started on the meat and two veg, so to speak, it would be wrong to borrow the song title without paying tribute to Scouting for Girls’ well-deserved success. They are a hardworking band; write genuinely good pop songs and are tireless in support of their two chosen charities. I like them a lot … I’m also grateful to Roy and the boys for prodding a notion that has been cat-napping at the back of my mind for way to long …
It’s that time of year when I could be forgiven for waxing lyrical about cloudless skies and butterflies hovering around pink-hued acacia blooms; but more than likely, it’s the sight of tawny-limbed lovelies in tight-fitting tank-tops and flouncy rah-rah skirts that stirs the romantic man in me. And what’s more, a stroll through any city centre would show that I’m not a stand-alone guy.

Last month, Thin Lizzy announced that Ricky Warwick of the Almighty would be joining them as their third lead vocalist following the departure of John Sykes, who had been the band’s singer since they originally reformed in 1996.
In the same month, the Faces were confirmed as headliners of this August’s Vintage at Goodwood festival in West Sussex, with a certain Mick Hucknall due to stand in for Rod Stewart on vocals. Both of these announcements beg the question: how much do a band need their lead singer?

It would be an understatement to say that 2010 has already been a landmark year for Twin Atlantic. From a triumphant hometown show selling out the 1250-capacity Glasgow ABC, to a European stint with Enter Shikari and culminating an epic US tour, Twin Atlantic have already hit 17 countries this year and are becoming a truly world-beating band.
This summer will see the band playing their biggest shows yet: not only have they been personally invited to support The Gaslight Anthem on their UK tour (including stops at Glasgow Academy on 23 June and Brixton Academy on 29 June), but they have just been announced as support to Blink-182 on their UK dates in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Dublin.

That's right! Stereoboard is at this year's Isle of Wight Festival, trawling through the mud (please no), paper cups and little kids in checked shirts to bring you an up to date, honest and frank approach to the festival's Best & Worst of 2010's line-up.

You'd think that almost two full years of near-nonstop touring would deserve a long break, but such is not the case for ska/punk/pop pioneers LESS THAN JAKE who are continuing their trek across the Atlantic and into Europe and UK with punk-rap legends Zebrahead.
"We were used to being in the UK and Europe three times a year like clockwork but we took some time away for some new projects," says LTJ drummer Vinnie Fiorello. "Now we are coming back and can't wait to be back doing a full tour."
This tour with Zebrahead is a special one since the bands have been friends for over a decade. "We've known the Zebrahead guys since 1997 and being able to share a tour with them again makes the journey full circle," he continues.

With a bona fide hit single in the slinky form of "Radar Detector", sold out shows across the country, a number of summer festival dates lined up and a critically lauded debut LP under his skinny belt, Darwin Deez undoubtedly has summer in the palm of his hands.
He is not done yet however - on July 12th he releases his new single "Up in the Clouds", a handclap-equipped belter of a love song, and plays a free in-store gig at Rough Trade the day after to celebrate. He is also charging into the summer with slots at pretty much every music festival of note, following hot on the heels of raucously received performances at The Great Escape and on the NME Radar Tour.

Paul Heaton releases his eagerly anticipated second solo album 'Acid Country' on 13th September 2010 and has just announced a UK tour to accompany its arrival.
The autumn dates - which go on sale this Friday 11th June at 9.30am - will be preceded by a headline slot on Glastonbury's Leftfield stage as well as appearances at Latitude and V Festival.
The follow up to 2008's widely acclaimed 'The Cross Eyed Rambler', 'Acid Country' is Paul's 15th studio album and his second as a solo artist. Recorded with his band in Colne, Lancashire earlier this year; the album was co-produced by Mr. Heaton and Christian Madden (of The Earlies) and features guest vocals from Sally Ellyson of New York's Hem and Ruth Skipper from Moulettes.

We have all heard, read or seen some of the outrageous stunts that rock bands pull-off during their shows, only a few weeks ago I saw KISS frontman Paul Stanley fly across Birmingham’s NEC Arena for a rendition of ‘I Was Made For Lovin’ You’. However, putting the zip-lines and pyrotechnics to shame, Bon Jovi went a step further this week by playing ON TOP of London’s O2 Arena!

Hailing from Guildford, Without Thought have flirted with smashing their local punk/metal scene in a big way since the release of 2004 EP, ‘The Canvas Will Burn Your Eyes’. Several singles later, productivity was halted after one band member suffered a fairly serious injury, which rendered them unable to play.

Concerto For The Undead is Stigma’s second commercial release, since the Italian death metal 4 piece formed in 2000. The relentless, ear splitting 10 track record is a nonstop mass of heavy metal guitar riffs, relentless, skin splitting drumming and horrific barking, shouting and screaming. Give that man a throat sweet.
