Vampire Weekend Confirm Winter UK Tour & Tickets

New Yorkers Vampire Weekend have announced details of a huge UK tour this winter, which will see the band play some of the biggest venues of their career.

Hugely popular on the indie-scene, Vampire Weekend blends together African rhythms with an urban tone to form a sound that really needs to be heard to be believed. Having played some stunning festival sets across the country this summer, the band recently performed at Scotland’s T in the Park festival and supported The Strokes at Rockness.

However, it’s turning out to be quite a dramatic summer for Vampire Weekend. Along with the joy of playing some exceptional performances to huge festival crowds, as well as their successful release of their second album ‘Contra’, now comes an unfortunate twist in their run of all things pleasant, as the band recently became involved in a court battle over the artwork on their ‘Contra’ album.

Still in the early stages, the Vampire Weekend are currently being sued by a girl who features on the cover of their second album, claiming that she did not give any permission to the band for them to use her photograph. Wanting $2million for the breach of copyright, the court battle is obviously a serious issue for the band.

Vampire Weekend will kick-off their new UK tour later this year on November 25th at Blackpool’s glamorous Empress Ballroom. Shows will then roll through the country climaxing with an appearance at London’s huge Alexandra Palace, which recently hosted a show by hip-hop megastar Jay-Z – a clear indication as to just how far Vampire Weekend have come.

Vampire Weekend will play the following UK dates:

November 2010

25th Empress Ballroom Arena, Blackpool
26th Wolverhampton Civic Hall
28th Corn Exchange, Edinburgh
29th O2 Academy, Sheffield

December 2010

1st Brighton Centre
2nd Alexandra Palace, London

Tickets are onsale from 9am on Friday 23rd July.
