The band everybody is talking about are set to bring a touch of deep south rock’n’roll to our shores for their first ever UK shows. The Nashville based band will play a free show at the Flowerpot Kentish Town on Wednesday 29th September and then ticketed shows at Rough Trade East and Club NME at KOKO.
On touring the UK for the first time lead singer Nick Brown said, “I’m looking forward to bringing nursery rhymes riding on thunderstorms, hopefully the Brits are ready to sing along. We want to make some noise and some friends along the way. Don’t be scared it’s only rock’n’roll.”
The band have been included in the NME’s top 50 bands of 2010, without even releasing a song. This is not to mention being championed by us lot here at Stereoboard, Q, NME.com, The Fly, Clash, There Goes The Fear and countless other websites and blogs. XFM have play listed ‘Listen To Your Love’ and Zane Lowe has featured the band on his Radio 1 show on a regular basis. This has all culminated in a label scrum, the likes of which have not been seen in years.
Mona’s debut single, ‘Listen To Your Love’, is released 13th September through the bands own label, Zion Noiz Recordings. Originally recorded live in the singer Nick Brown’s basement, it makes for pure authentic, unadulterated, vintage, rock‘n’roll.
