Paramore and Katy Perry To Play Concert For US Troops

American rock band Paramore are set to team up with the likes of Katy Perry, Sugarland and Keri Hilson for a unique televised concert in support of US military forces.
American network VH1 have teamed up with the United Service Organisations (USO) to broadcast exclusive performances from two military bases, for the ‘VH1 Divas Support The Troops’ event. The event will be the first of its kind. The USO is a non-profit organisation which provides support and recreational activities for US military personnel.
Katy Perry, Sugarland, Keri Hilson, and hip-hop newcomer Nicki Minaj will all perform for troops at San Diego’s Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. However, Paramore will head to an undisclosed military base in the Middle East to visit with the Marines, soldiers, and airmen.
The special, festive event will also be shown internationally for the service men and women stationed outside the US, in partnership with the Armed Forces Network.
Sloan Gibson, the president of USO, seemed particularly excited about the event: "The USO is thrilled to be partnering with VH1 and honored to be a part of delivering such an uplifting event to our nation's troops.”
“The holidays are especially tough for our men and women in uniform and their families, and having the opportunity to touch so many troops stationed around the world at a time of year that matters most lets them know that America still cares about their welfare, There is no better time to celebrate our armed forces and support their efforts than now."
It has already been a hectic year for Hayley Williams and Paramore, who have toured extensively and are preparing for a UK tour this autumn.
'VH1 Divas Salute the Troops' will premiere Sunday, December 5th at 9pm on VH1
