Black Eyed Peas Top UK Singles Chart

Californian hip hop stars Black Eyed Peas have moved up the UK singles chart to take Number One this week. The band took the top spot, moving up from Number Six with ‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’, a semi-cover of Dirty Dancing’s ‘Time Of My Life’.

Despite being ahead in terms of sales earlier in the week, Willow Smith narrowly missed out on the top spot with ‘Whip My Hair’. If the daughter of Will Smith had reached the top spot, she would have been the youngest artist to top the charts since 1972. There were only two other new entries in the Top 20: Alexandra Burke went in at Number Sixteen with ‘The Silence’, while Michael Jackson entered at number Eleven with his posthumous entry, ‘Hold My Hand’.

In terms of albums, Take That once again held onto the top spot with their record-breaking album, ‘Progress’. The band have been top of the UK Albums Chart for four consecutive weeks now, and with a well-received performance on last night’s X Factor to top it off, it wouldn’t be wise to bet against them holding on for another week.
