Liam Gallagher Plays Unexpected Gig In Stockport Bar

Oasis legend Liam Gallagher only went into the Town Bar for a quick drink after visiting some relatives – and ended up putting on a surprised solo performance.

As soon as the star stepped foot into the bar, he attracted a big gathering. The sometimes quite tempered man then began signing autographs, posing for pictures and generally mingled with the locals. But when one fan asked him to sign his guitar, Liam did one better – he took the guitar and began playing.

The astonished crowd were treated to a short medley of tracks, including ‘Wonderwall’, ‘Don’t Look Back in Anger’, and a cover of John Lennon’s much-loved track ‘Shine On’. And to make the performance just that bit sweeter, Gary ‘Mani’ Mounfield (of Stone Roses and Primal Scream fame) just happened to be around to help out.

Some fans would surely pay un-reasonable amounts of money to see such a rare and intimate gig, yet the regulars at Stockport’s Town Bar, near Liam’s native Manchester, witnessed the once-in-a-lifetime event for absolutely free last Friday.

The Bar’s owners are said to have offered Liam the choice of having the Bar closed – but the singer refused, saying “If I’m here, then people will come in – right?” In the current economic climate, who could say no to that?
