Josh Farro Reveals The Truth Behind His Exit From Paramore

Former Paramore members Josh and Zac Farro have spoken up about their departure from the pop-punk outfit earlier this week. In an extended and revealing statement, the brothers heavily criticised lead singer Hayley William’s attitude towards the band and also revealed the commercial shadow which apparently loomed over then from the very beginning.

The announcement of their departure came this Saturday (December 18th) through a statement on Paramore.net, where the remaining band members declared that “None of us were really shocked” at Josh and Zac's decision to depart. However, in a response posted on Josh Farro’s blog, the guitarist and drummer stated that lead singer Hayley Williams had posted the news of their departure without his permission. He said: “We were not going to issue a statement until we worked out our exit agreement with Hayley. I wish it didn’t have to happen that way, Zac and I wanted to be the ones you heard it from.”

In the long statement, the brothers continue to discuss the commercial aspect of their time as a band, stating that the band were "a manufactured product of a major label”. Farro claimed that the outfit was masquerading as a minor-label band while being signed by Atlantic the whole time: “The label and management then decided to build our band up the grass-roots route. They put Hayley on Fueled by Ramen not making it known she was signed to Atlantic as well.”

In addition to this, Zac and Josh Farro leave no doubt about the band’s Christian undertones, claiming that a separation in belief was one of the primary reasons that the brothers parted ways: “As you all know Hayley and I dated and broke up during [the ‘Riot’] album cycle. Things then started going downhill for our band. Hayley and Jeremy’s views started changing from what we all once believed in.”

He continued: “Hayley presented lyrics to us that were really negative and we didn’t agree with. For example, “the truth never set me free”, which contradicts what the Bible says in John 8:32 (“and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free”). We fought her about how her lyrics misrepresented our band and what we stood for, but in the end she got her way.”

Josh and Zac closed the statement by declaring that their intentions were to clarify the complicated situation, rather than to “belittle or disgrace” their former bandmates. You can read the full statement on joshnfarro.blogspot.com
