Muse Want To Take Their Music Into Space

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy has stated that the band have had “real discussions” about performing in space. The singer and guitarist said that he would love for the band to play a concert while in orbit, despite acknowledging that the plan may be slightly difficult with present technology.

Bellamy said that although the band hadn’t embarked on any astronaut training at present, they had thought quite seriously about the different ways that they could (excuse the pun) get their plan off the ground.

In an interview with a British newspaper, Bellamy said: "We've had some discussions about playing in space: sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it's for real. I'm thinking of approaching Richard Branson to see if we could do it on his spacecraft he's got happening. Although we do have a lot of equipment, so I guess we'd have to use pods to carry our stuff and we'd scale back the shows a lot.”

He continued: "I don't think the spacecraft is like a Tardis, where we could get everything in we usually have. I do think it will be possible in the future and I'm sure it willl happen in my lifetime. We'd love to be part of that...maybe I've seen The Jetsons too many times."

It is not the first time that Muse have been influenced by the idea of Space. In 2006 Matt Bellamy forced his record label to scrap a whole day of scheduled interviews in New York because he believed that an asteroid was due to hit the American city.
