Britney Spears Debuts New Single ‘Hold It Against Me’

Tuesday, 11 January 2011 Written by James Conlon

Pop veteran Britney Spears was set to officially unveil her latest single ‘Hold It Against Me’ later today (January 11th), however the single was available for fans to listen to a day early, courtesy of American Idol host Ryan Seacrest.

The song was streamed on the host’s official website yesterday, and has been generally well-received by fans so far. The track is produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin, who have collectively moulded the careers of Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Backstreet Boys, Westlife and Pink, among others.

Britney Spears has also confirmed that the track will be the first single from her upcoming seventh studio album, which is set for release this March. After an early demo of the track (featuring alternate vocals) leaked on the internet last week, the singer was quick to assert the true nature of the track as she tweeted: "Heard an early demo of my new single leaked. If u think that's good, wait til you hear the real one Tuesday."

Spears also seemed in a positive mood about the track (despite its early unveiling) as she tweeted yesterday: "Don't #HOLDITAGAINSTME for coming out early. I couldn't wait any longer. Hope you don't mind."
